Here is what you’ll be doing

You’ll translate the architect’s facade design into a technical design that:

• Is aesthetically sound
• Is structurally sound
• Is practical to manufacture and install

You’ll co-create the building’s aesthetic shell and add your technical expertise to it.

You will develop the design step by step: from initial sketches and conceptual details to architectural elaboration and models.

In doing so, you will continuously coordinate with:

• The architect and client
• Internal colleagues (work preparation, installation, project management)
• External parties such as structural engineers

You will constantly navigate between design intent and technical reality, ensuring that the two remain in balance.

After handover from sales, your process begins with the development of conceptual details and/or section drawings (2D/3D). You coordinate these initial concepts with the client, after which modelers (under your supervision) further develop and document the design.

You then oversee the further development into production, assembly, and installation plans.

You will work on multiple projects simultaneously, each with its own team and dynamics.

Visiting project sites is an integral part of this role. You will be involved in:

• Project meetings with the client and architect
• On-site installation visits
• Consultations with external production partners

This allows you to stay in touch with what you are designing and how it will ultimately be built.

Your role in the bigger picture

You work in an environment where design and execution must be continuously aligned.

Early on, you sit down with architects as soon as possible to help determine how a design can be made feasible without losing its impact. At the same time, you collaborate extensively with developers and contractors, where the design must actually be realized.

Internally, you’ll coordinate with engineering, shop floor planning, and installation teams. Externally, you’ll work with structural engineers and manufacturing partners.

You’re the one who connects all these parties and ensures the design remains intact: from initial concept to execution.
